Safety Signal, a Google Health Premium membership service that offers LTE connectivity for safety features on compatible Pixel Watch models without a stand-alone carrier plan, will no longer be offered by Google.
When customers are not using their phones and do not have a carrier plan on their watches, the service enables them to access safety measures. Among these characteristics are:
- Calls to and from emergency contacts
- Safety Check
- Emergency Sharing
- Emergency SOS
- Fall Detection
When a watch has carrier service, however, Safety Signal is not available because the carrier supplies the connectivity required for emergency calls.
The change affects the following LTE-enabled models:
- Google Pixel Watch 2 (LTE)
- Google Pixel Watch 3 (LTE)
Prior warning will be sent to current Safety Signal customers via email and push alerts. They have 30 days from the date of the email notification to continue using the service’s services without a standalone carrier plan.
When the watch is associated with a nearby phone via Bluetooth, connected to an active cellular line via a carrier, or connected to Wi-Fi, additional safety measures will still function.
According to the Google Pixel Watch Team, customers can set up a mobile plan or eSIM through a supported carrier to keep cellular connectivity and access these capabilities while they’re not using their phones.
On December 12, 2026, Google will discontinue Safety Signal. With roaming support between the US and Canada and between the UK and Germany, the service is accessible in the US, Canada, the UK, and Germany.
